hello
ive been washing my mums washing machine, giving it a really good scrub inside and out, and while trying to put the drawer back in ive managed to get it jammed. i put it in and then opened it- all fine. then while i had it on a hot wash, about 30 seconds into the cycle i had a great idea to put some lemon juice in the drawer to help get rid of the limescale that i couldn't scrub off. then teh drawer refused to open more than an inch.
googling the problem gave me the genius idea that i can still use the machine with tablets that go straight into the drum. so fortunately we don't have to make trips to the launderette....but i need to get this fixed before mum comes back from holiday!!!
i think what's happened is the fabric conditioner cover (not sure if all machines have these but this one does) wasn't put back securely after id removed it for washing so in sliding the drawer in and out the first time i managed to dislodge it and now that's in teh way of it opening properly.
anyone know any tricks of how to get it out?
or if i have to just get DH to use some brute force and possibly break the drawer in the process, where can i get good quality cheap spare parts? i have actually found one site that sells the part for just under £100, but hoping i can get it cheaper somewhere if necessary...
many many thanks for reading and TIA for any help/advice/reassurance!!

Can you take the top lid off the machine (normally held on with a few screws?) Tried wiggling/grovelling inside with a coathanger to knock the bit back down?
Try the washerhelp website too.

What sort of machine is it. A similar thing happened to mine (Bosch) and I had to try and hold down the piece of plastic which sticks out above the drawer and once it had clicked back into place it was fine.
Not a very good description but keep on wiggling, I wouldn't use brute force as the plastic will probably break.

espares are really good value and quick. On our Zanussi you have to squeeze down on a bit of plastic towards the back of the drawer behind where the prewash would go to release it. Otherwise could it have got wedged awkwardly on the runner (try rinsing with some sort of lubricant and wiggling) or got sticky from overflowed washing powder (give it a clean with a small bottle brush).

No idea how to get it out apart from above posters ideas but I agree with espares if you need a replacement. They are fast and good service and good price.

It's an AEG L72640 on the drawer it's says OKO_LAVAMAT 72640 UPDATE
Good to hear espares are good as they are the ones who are selling the part for £100.
We tried a long metal skewer just now and the wiggling thing it didn't budge but maybe we didn't try long enough! I'm going to try opening it up now.

I DID IT!!!!!! I DID IT!!!!!
After taking the lid off the machine which was hugely satisfying to do (yes I am that sad, it even involved using a star shaped screwdriver which I've never used before!) there was no way to get at the top of the dispenser so I had another go with the wiggly wire hanger method and I DID IT!!
Thanks ligesalongsong and everyone else
