How to Get Extra Draws in Yu-Gi-Oh!
Duelists know that players draw 1 menu at the beginning of each of their turns in Yu-Gi-Oh!, but this default method often proves too tedious to properly handle your opponent's offensive. Thus, a crucial component of deck-building is finding ways to continuously add together cards to your mitt throughout the friction match—often through extra draws. Heck, looking at the infamous Exodia cards, we see bonus draws can literally win matches without the cards even needing to be played!
ten Best Cards That Allow You Draw
At present, your selected monster series may incorporate powerful draws specific to that archetype (Destiny Draw, anyone?), only today nosotros'll unearth ten more general draw engines to fuel any deck!
- Pot of Dichotomy
- Kuraz the Light Monarch
- Practiced Goblin Housekeeping
- Allure of Darkness
- Cardcar D
- Shared Ride
- Ledger of Legerdemain
- Reckless Greed
- Bill of fare Trooper
- Supply Team
Pot of Dichotomy
10. Pot of Dichotomy
Type: Spell
Another card that fits with most, but not all, decks, Dichotomy relies on monsters in your Graveyard having at least dissimilar 3 types. Luckily, with over xx printed types, most monster serial hands satisfy a threshold of three.
Dichotomy'south effect lets you shuffle the iii unique types into your deck to depict 2. This gives you two cards for one, but to compensate, your boxing stage for the turn will be inactive; you won't be able to set on. However, a formidable describe ability suitable for many decks, especially when your focus is on defence and setup.
Kuraz the Calorie-free Monarch
9. Kuraz the Low-cal Monarch
Type: Monster
Although Kuraz belongs to the Monarch classic, its event does not rely on its brethren whatsoever, making it compatible with any deck. As a Level 6 monster, you'll need to tribute one creature to normal summon it. When yous do, you can destroy up to ii cards on the field (including yours), and for each carte a actor had destroyed past this effect, they draw one.
Thus, Kuraz can serve every bit a removal, a describe engine, or both! Unfortunately, information technology can't attack the turn information technology uses its effect, merely actuate it to destroy your unneeded field cards and find fresh options. Pendulum monsters also make swell targets thank you to their ability to be resummoned.
Kuras also has strong ATK, and because its result triggers upon summoning, you lot don't accept to specially worry about keeping it live. The card also can serve as fodder for a Rank vi xyz summon.
Good Goblin Housekeeping
viii. Good Goblin Housekeeping
Type: Trap
Like about every trap, you cannot play this carte du jour until the turn after it'due south set (unlike depict-and-play spells) but take a look at its fierce effect. Y'all describe cards equal to the number of Housekeeping cards in your Graveyard plus one, and then put one card from your hand on the bottom of your deck. Basically, the start fourth dimension y'all play this, your overall hand size won't change, but it will increase with the second and especially tertiary. Additionally, whenever Housekeeping is played, you're given a chance to exchange an unneeded card from your hand for a fresh describe, allowing Housekeeping to help even with its first appearance.
As an added bonus, y'all can play a joke on your opponent into wasting a spell/trap destroyer when they target the face-down Housekeeping, at which betoken you chain and activate information technology before the devastation takes place. Be certain to employ search effects, similar Golden Sarcophagus, to assistance narrow the chase for the three Housekeepings, and watch as your hand size quickly flourishes.
Allure of Darkness
vii. Attraction of Darkness
Type: Spell
Your deck must utilise dark-attributed monsters for this menu to part. All the same, dark is arguably the most common aspect (there are only six main attributes, far less than types), meaning many a build tin can be tempted by darkness.
A elementary card, Allure lets you lot draw two, then you must banish a dark monster from your hand or exist forced to discard your unabridged hand. Unfortunately, banishing won't set for Graveyard recovery, but the sheer simplicity and effectiveness of the card aid it stand out. For Allure's extra draws, y'all need neither expect nor first fill your Graveyard, letting yous access it without condition.
Plus, a pocket-sized number of effects combo with banished cards, meaning existence removed from play can occasionally assist set up a combo.
Cardcar D
half dozen. Cardcar D
Type: Monster
This amusingly named monster too took a spot in my countdown of the best machine-typed monsters, and for proficient reason. Similarly to Dichotomy, it must be employed in your first Main Phase, though this fourth dimension it doesn't have to be the starting time action you accept.
For the price of immediately jumping to the Cease Phase and beingness unable to special summon monsters during the turn, a normal summoned Cardcar D tin can tribute itself to draw two cards. Aye, you're dealing with the listed disadvantages, but you lot're up two and accept another monster in the Graveyard, not bad for effects like Dichotomy or Solidarity, making this one a definite winner.
Shared Ride
Blazon: Spell
Equally a quick-play, you tin (and probably should) ready and apply Shared Ride on your opponent'southward turn. Once activated, for the rest of the turn, whenever they describe or add a bill of fare from deck to mitt (except for their draw footstep), you get to depict a carte, punishing opposing card advantage with some of your own.
With no timing restrictions or other penalties, this is simple a versatile play that can also bait a spell/trap removal.
Ledger of Legerdemain
4. Ledger of Legerdemain
Type: Spell
Ledger replaced "Shard of Greed" for my favorite delayed-gratification draw since, dissimilar Shard, information technology doesn't stay fielded while you lot wait, preventing foes from destroying it. Ledger only banishes your deck's summit 3 cards confront-down, adding them to your hand at the 3rd standby stage after Ledger's activation.
That'southward quite a wait, merely you're spending i card to get three, a internet total of +2 cards in paw—outperforming even the banned "Pot of Greed!" Excellent for long-term win strategies like Exodia.
Reckless Greed
iii. Reckless Greed
Type: Trap
Similar Good Goblin Housekeeping, this is a trap that stacks well with each additional copy of itself. When activated, you immediately draw two cards, simply you must skip your next two Draw Phases. This ways that ultimately, your overall draw number doesn't change, just you proceeds admission to the cards sooner, providing an advantage.
Things go from tempting to amazing when yous use multiple at once. Even if you trigger all three Reckless Greeds simultaneously, you're withal simply going to skip two Draw Phases (not 6), and the incredible hand afforded should decimate your opponent before they can counter.
Bill of fare Trooper
2. Carte Trooper
Type: Monster
Equally of this writing, Menu Trooper is semi-express in official play, significant yous can simply place two (rather than the usual 3) of it into your deck. It's also a fairly simple monster that doesn't need tributes to summon.
In one case per turn, y'all can cull up to three cards to send from the acme of your deck to the Graveyard. Each boosts Trooper's ATK by 500 for the turn (for a respectable maximum of 1900), and helps fill the Graveyard.
That'southward all great, but the draw power here but stems from Trooper's demise: when it's destroyed, whether by card effect or battle, you draw ane. A stellar addition, Trooper does it harm, fills your Graveyard, and then replaces itself as information technology exits.
Supply Team
ane. Supply Squad
Type: Spell
Hands down my favorite carte hither (ironic, because it fills easily up), continuous spell Supply Squad in one case per plough has you draw when a monster you control is destroyed. This tin can trigger on both your and your opponent's turns, applies for boxing destruction as well every bit event, and actually invites instances where you'll assault knowing that your monster will be destroyed but to get the describe.
Multiple Supplys tin activate at one time too, significant you're complimentary to toss three out there, blow up your own cards, so picket your opponent's jaw drib as you're shortly playing with half your deck in manus. Uncomplicated, powerful, and incredibly versatile, Supply earns a spot in many of my decks and costs less than a single dollar!
Your Vote
These cards will hasten your reinforcements by refilling your hand, but be certain to examine your classic's draw power and guess how much exterior support they'll demand. Additionally, keep cards that blend with extra draws (similar life bespeak-regenerating Solemn Wishes) in mind to class some impressive manus advantage combos.
But for now, vote for your favorite entry, and I'll encounter you at our next card countdown!
Questions & Answers
Question: Why is Pot of Greed banned in Yu-Gi-Oh?
Reply: Two cards for one, no downsides or restrictions. This means that every deck would have Pot of Greed, making information technology a ho-hum and repetitive sight that would grant an unfair reward to whoever happens to describe it first.

@swiftjay
Pot of Desires is definitely neat and will probably brand a follow-up countdown if I e'er brand one.
Not certain I'd call Upstart Goblin "the best", especially since it's currently express, merely it's certainly helpful in many decks.

@pot of greed
Your comment reveals yous didn't carefully read the text of the article. I'll say information technology once again:
"... like Pot of Greed and Morphing Jar. But rather than clog today'southward list with these banned cards, we're going to cover legal effects you lot tin can consider using in any tournament."
@SubjectBosco
Definitely! The Worm monsters were one time a personal favorite, and with Hereafter Fusion legal once more, Worm Zero helps them maintain a fighting gamble in a modern duel.
pot of greed on April 29, 2022:
how is pot of greed not on this list
Playaahh on March 10, 2022:
Supply squad works well. If there was a spell bill of fare with these effects that immune monsters to switch attack and defense points instead of position and increase their assail by 500 and def by 500 and third effect negate all traps/spells/effects and automatically destroy monsters whose assault is higher than my monsters than I would exist heartburned.
SubjectBosco on Feb 19, 2022:
But a affair of finding the right cards that can work with my Reptiles. The Link Subterror card, for instance, -Is currently the simply one I could find that works with Worms since Flip effects are also what Worms practise, it'due south besides neat that I can call Flip cards from the deck OR graveyard and add them to my manus when I meet the conditions, same with placing one Flip card from the deck to GY, making cards like Worm Victory easier to place on the field.
Withal got a long ways to make them good again, but they certainly take potential even later the years passed by. I discover that they tin yet dominate the field once yous get the right cards for the chore, and now that Time to come Fusion is off the ban list, it makes Worm Zippo so much amend even tho I have to wait an extra turn.
Jeremy Gill (author) from Louisiana on February 18, 2022:
@Subject
Glad to help! And a modern Worm build? I'd exist interested to see how an aging classic such every bit that (one time a favorite of mine) fares against electric current decks if well-fabricated.
@ultimatedefense
Ban lists are interesting, as players both love them (for putting an terminate to overpowered opponents) and dread them (for instilling a fear of disrupting the deck you spent hours making). Luckily, I'd say Konami has done a good job regulating the listing throughout the years.
SubjectBosco on Feb 18, 2022:
Yo, where is Jar of Greed!?
Just kidding, that's the full opposite of all of the in a higher place cards mentioned on this list. This list also helped with my deck, ane of the main downsides is that the overall speed is irksome unless I can replenish my easily with cards I need. It likewise doesn't assistance that I'm stuck at having 45 cards total in my main deck, I run a Worm deck and I run a decent amount of Worm monsters (23 full) and so sometimes getting my Queen or King can be hard unless I accept Aureate Sarcophagus or Imp King summoned at the plow.
Which leaves me with 2 unlike cards on the listing that could piece of work well for my deck: Trade-In and Reckless Greed. Ultimately I'one thousand gonna put my money on RG, it helps with Illidan getting counters he needs to remove whatever my opponent haves on the field, and I run Twin Twister along with other cards to help factory, so Trade-In might be overkill unless I switch out for Mystical Typoon Puddle. That being said, both the Queen and King are level eight monsters and I run three of each, so information technology wouldn't exist bad to have like 1 or 2 TIs' in the deck if I cease up liking it improve.
Either way, I appreciate this mail, it has got me a step closer to making my Worms more than viable from being away the game for a long time. Now I'm off to playtest some more!

Hmm, I remember the practiced old times, back then very few banned cards at my place were used. And so many familiar cards in this article.

Great article, I really enjoyed it. A good combo would be with pendulum magicians, supply squad and kuraz the light monarch in pendulum magicians could hateful an insane corporeality of draws and searches. This article really helped me with finding some unique combos, cheers.
